Foam cushions and balance pads are essential items in any well-equipped studio or training facility.
Each is designed for multi-purpose use, not only enriching exercise variations but also supporting correct alignment and precise movements based on biomechanics. They can be widely used not only in Pilates but also in fusion programs combining various methods, and in conditioning workouts for athletes.
*This page is for the sale of foam cushions. Products other than foam cushions are not included.
■Features
Excellent Comfort and Support Designed to provide high comfort and support in a variety of exercises. Made from high-density closed-cell polyethylene foam. Available in three sizes, so you can choose the optimal one for your body type and purpose.
Foam Cushion A (for head support) "Foam Cushion A" is primarily used to support the head in a supine (lying on your back) position. By aligning the head and neck, it helps prevent cervical hyperextension (when the head drops back too far, causing the neck to over-arch) and maintains an ideal position.
Foam Cushion B (for adductor activation and lateral support) "Foam Cushion B" helps maintain the function of the hip adductors (inner thigh muscles) when placed between the knees or ankles. This promotes full-body connection and ensures proper alignment of the legs and hips. It is also ideal for supporting the head when in a lateral (side-lying) position on the Reformer.
Foam Cushion C (for seated support) "Foam Cushion C" is ideal for exercises performed in a seated position. Even those who experience stiffness in the lower back, hips, or knees can maintain an ideal sitting posture with this cushion. By slightly elevating the body, it reduces unnecessary tension and allows you to focus on the target muscles. It is perfect for mat work, as well as any situation where a slight height adjustment is needed, such as on the Reformer, Stability Chair™, or Cadillac.

About Merrithew®
In 1988, Lindsay and Moira Merrithew opened their first Pilates studio in Toronto, Canada. Recognizing the growing demand for Pilates and a lack of suppliers, President and CEO Lindsay focused on building and diversifying the business. Moira, an Executive Director of Education certified as an instructor at a Pilates studio in New York, began training clients.
They realized that the benefits of Pilates could help people of all ages and abilities. Therefore, they set out to demystify the method, raise awareness, and make it more accessible to a broader audience.
With a team of business and health and fitness experts, they built their current business model, paying meticulous attention to every detail, from equipment to programming, at all levels. Much of Merrithew's equipment is manufactured and assembled at their own factory in Toronto, Canada. Meanwhile, the training center at Merrithew's headquarters serves as the hub for instructor training and educational programs. Merrithew's network of licensed training centers and distributors spans the globe, and their community of certified instructors and clients continues to expand.
